We had some wonderful sightings on the Solway which included this 'tangle of Knots' in flight with the snow-laden Lakeland mountain range beyond.
Other sightings during the high water roost included 300+ Bar-tailed Godwits, 5 Purple Sandpipers, 800+ Golden Plover, 200 Dunlin, 100 Turnstones, 4000+ Oystercatchers, drake Red-breasted Merganser and a single Cormorant.
At the Carlisle starling roost we had a female Peregrine, female Sparrowhawk and a Buzzard driving the birds into some beautiful shapes.
2 Barn Owls at dusk on the way home finished off the day.
