Evening events...

THE ISLE OF MULL WILDLIFE EXPEDITION with IOLO WILLIAMS On our evening tour we saw a large movement of Palmate Newts crossing the road at dusk. This enticed a number of Hedgehogs to take advantage of the amphibian prey. We stopped to check on one Hedgehog which appeared to be stunned/injured on the side of the road. We put it into some rough vegetation as it seemed to be okay. #MullEveningTour #mull #MullNatureExpedition #mullwildlife #IoloWilliams

This morning we watched an adult Golden Eagle make a successful hunt!! Once in a Lifetime...

During a wildlife excursion on the Isle of Mull this Autumn we observed a ‘once in a lifetime’ natural spectacle. It was mid-afternoon and we were travelling west alongside one of Mull’s many sea lochs, which indent the island greatly. I was scanning the terraced skyline and spotted a large bird stooping down vigorously at something on ground level which was out of view. The general profile and behaviour of the bird confirmed that this was a Golden Eagle and it was in hunting

Noble birds...

We had wonderful encounters with eagles on yesterdays tour which included two pairs of White-tailed Eagles taking advantage of the elements along with three Golden Eagles (2 adults and their 1st winter bird) riding a thermal, interacting with Ravens and also being very vocal for over 20 minutes! Sunset over Wolf Island

The sun setting over Ulva on our Mull Evening Tour last night. The highlight for me was a Long-eared Owl on the wing over a Lodgepole Pine plantation at dusk! Green Hairstreaks...

We were delighted to record 7 Green Hairstreaks on the Isle of Ulva on Friday morning! Other butterfly species on the wing included Speckled Wood, Orange-Tip and Green-veined White.
