Easter Stargazing Event 2017

As dusk turned to darkness we observed some of the main celestial subjects in our April star-fields, including Jupiter and the accompanying Jovian moons along with constellations such as Leo, Gemini and Ursa Major. We also had a look at some of the brightest stars visible in the northern spring skies, and revealed some of their secrets!

There was a few shooting stars seen throughout the evening which could well represent the start of the Lyrid meteor shower, which peaks on the 22nd and 23rd of this month!

Many thanks to everyone who braved the cold north wind and showed great patience to get their rewards on the night . I hope everyone enjoyed it and gained something from the evening.

Thank you very much to Duart Castle for hosting the event and providing the wonderful soups and hot drinks on the evening. Also many thanks to the team of local naturalists/guides who helped on the evening.
